The historic Whitman Mansion on Whitaker Street recently held a wine tasting and auction raising over $3,000 for the 200 Club.
During this private event, guests were offered a taste of what the beautifully restored Victorian mansion has to offer. They enjoyed specialties of the mansion including the now legendary dishes of Heritage Salmon and Beef Whitman and a full bar that were generously donated by The Whitman Mansion.
Over 50 attendees joined the party to support the 200 Club which is an organization based in Savannah that provides assistance to the family members of fallen and injured first responders in 18 Georgia and 2 South Carolina counties.
The Whitman Mansion General Manager Bob Vardzel said, “The Whitman was honored to host this event. This gave us a way to give back to those who risk their lives for our community.”
Mark Dana, President of the 200 Club said “We have really been focusing on raising funds for our first responders and their families. This was the first fundraiser for 2016 and we are extremely grateful to The Whitman for offering their beautiful facility to us and hosting this important fundraising event. We are passionate about the 200 Club and are looking forward to having more events in the near future.”
