On Thursday, February 20, 2014 the 200 Club honored five first responders from Savannah. During the evening 200 dedicated people gathered to honor the five first responders. LTC Art Finch, Ph.D. gave a humorous yet sensitive keynote speech, which was heartfelt by everyone in attendance and affirmed the tremendous sacrifices made by our first responders and their families.
APO John Eric Smith from the Savannah – Chatham Police department received his award for the meritorious act of valor he demonstrated on March 6, 2013, where his partner, Officer Rebekah Gregory had been shot.
Master Firefighter Daniel Hutcheson, Advanced Firefighter Moises Martinez, Captain Robert Barksdale, and Master Firefighter Frank Ptacin received their Valor Awards for meritorious acts of valor during a house fire on DeRenne Drive on Sunday, July 14, 2013, where two young girls were rescued from the fire.
